I asked Him. He heard. He answered better than I could’ve asked or imagined! He always does.
The cupboards weren’t bare, but we had no bread. We made coffee and sat down to share breakfast among the three of us. There was an empty chair, but I believe it wasn’t as empty as it appeared. He was first, she was second, and I was praying when a saint arrived with our daily bread, and more.
Hojaldra (fried bread)
If you’ve never had it, you should put it on your bucket list!
Torrejitas de Bacalao (corn fritters with cod)
Fresh, sweet corn, ground to a meal and mixed with cod, and then fried to a golden brown to make the best corn fritters. They’re better shared!
Carne guisada, arroz blanco, porotos, plátano de bendición, y ensalada de vegetales (stewed meat, rice, beans, glazed plantain, and mixed vegetables)
It was more than I could have asked for or imagined! I don’t live on bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of my Lord.
Thank God, I do! He answers better than I ask, and better than I imagine. I know He reads my mind, too. I’m thinking about un bollo de maíz nuevo con una taza de café negro!
He gave me all I needed, and more. There was enough to share, and share we did!
If I had to choose between food and His Word, I would choose His Word! These Words of His were part of today’s feast: Deuteronomy 8:3, Proverbs 30:8, Matthew 4:4, John 15:7, and Ephesians 3:20-21.
