Work 101 (Part 2)

Last week in Work 101 I learned why work is …

so difficult,
so frustrating,
so stressful,
so exhausting,
and so unfulfilling.
SIN.

Sin changed everything and everyone. Today, half way through 2019, I took notes on Work 101 Part 2 …

It wasn’t supposed to be bad, but sin breaks things, people, nature, politics, economies, life, and work. Today nothing is exactly the way it was created to be. That’s why work is so difficult, so frustrating, so stressful, so exhausting, and so unfulfilling.

So, should I give up? It depends on who I work for!

Backstory

  • Perfect – God made everything. It was good. (Genesis 1-2)
  • Imperfect – the time in which we now live everything and everyone (is) in some way broken. I am broken, too. But whatever I do, I work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from my Lord I will receive the inheritance as my reward. Working for God, Inc. makes it worth it! (My translation of Colossians 3:23-24)
  • Perfect – God will restore everything. It will be good. (Revelation 21-22)

My Takeaway

When our work somehow contributes to bringing heaven to earth, then all of a sudden our work becomes incredibly important, significant, and meaningful. Because our work becomes an extension of God’s work, just like it was in the Garden of Eden, and just like it will be someday when we serve Him, and rule and reign with Him.
